41-year-old driver had signed a three-year agreement to race for Mercedes GP again, after racing in Formula one in 2006 to strengthen the Ferrari team.

"In the long-term target with a Mercedes, we have a clear goal: I want to be world champion again," said Schumacher told Bild.

"Maybe it does not happen in my first season back racing, but realistic in three years (his contract until 2013).

Prior to resign in 2006, Schumacher won 91 Grand Prix races and he admitted he missed the reverberations of Formula One, although he had considered returning to the track last year.

"When I go to Formula One (of retirement), I was more annoyed than frustrated not race," said the German driver.

"Schumi" Schumacher calls, says age is not a factor when he returned on March 14 race in Bahrain.

"Apparently, I have succeeded in holding the influence of age, I should have a 'gene' is good," said Schumacher.
